Sydney / Melbourne / Canberra
$750-900 a day plus super DOE
Initial 12 months contract, scope to extend

We're partnering with a large enterprise organisation that's investing heavily in its data platform and looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the team on an initial contract.
This role sits within an established data engineering function responsible for maintaining and enhancing enterprise data assets across cloud and enterprise data warehouse environments. You'll play a key role in ensuring reliable data delivery while helping evolve modern data engineering practices and platforms.
  
What you'll be doing
  • Build, maintain and optimise enterprise data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Develop high-quality SQL code to support reporting, analytics and operational data products.
  • Improve the performance and efficiency of existing data solutions through optimisation and tuning.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the design, development and deployment of enterprise data assets.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
  • Produce technical documentation, data dictionaries and implementation artefacts.
  • Support BAU data operations including scheduled data processing and issue resolution.
  • Help drive continuous improvement across data engineering standards, delivery processes and DevOps practices.
  
What we're looking for
You'll bring experience working within enterprise-scale data environments and enjoy solving complex data engineering challenges.
We're particularly interested in people with experience across:
  • Strong SQL development, optimisation and performance tuning
  • Enterprise data warehouse and data integration solutions
  • At least two of the following:
    • SQL Server
    • Teradata
    • Snowflake
    • Amazon Redshift
    • Databricks
  • Programming experience using Python, Java, R or SAS
  • Data modelling and translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • DevOps, CI/CD and version control practices
  
Nice to have
  • AWS data services (S3, Glue or similar)
  • Experience with enterprise reporting and analytics platforms
  • Metadata-driven or model-driven development frameworks
  • Agile delivery experience
  • Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics or a related discipline
