Contract Azure Data Platform Engineer –  Databricks / SQL / Python
Duration: Initial 3 Months (Likely to Extend)
Rates: $700-900 inc super DOE
Location: Australia (Hybrid) 3 days North West Sydney
Start: ASAP

About the Role
A major Australian organisation is looking for an experienced Azure Data Platform Engineer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong chance of extension. You’ll be working in a mature data environment with modern Azure tools, helping to build and enhance scalable data pipelines that support high-impact projects across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and optimising data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks
• Developing clean, efficient transformations using SQL and Python
• Supporting Azure data platform improvements, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Working closely with data architects, analysts and business teams
• Enabling reporting teams by preparing reliable datasets for Power BI
• Ensuring good practices around data quality, governance and documentation

  
What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Azure Data Factory
• Databricks / Spark
• SQL (advanced)
• Python
• Power BI (backend/data modelling experience is a plus)
• Experience working in large or complex environments
• Someone who’s proactive, collaborative and able to hit the ground running
• Good communication skills and a problem-solving mindset
