Junior-Mid Data Engineer - 9 Month Contract

This is a truly exciting opportunity for an aspiring Data or Machine Learning Engineer to join an established, growing team! This could be a rare opportunity for a junior Data Engineer or ML Engineer to work with great mentors on an exciting project with a large Australian retailer. 

Main responsibilities include; Data pipeline build & optimisation; Solutioning and teamwork to build POC / deploy; working with Data Scientists on LLM / genAI projects; developing data foundations and data quality checks.  


Experience & Skills required: 

• Bachelor Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
• 1-2 years (Minimum) of professional experience in a Data Engineer or Machine Learning engineer role
• Hands-on Experience building APIs for data ingestion
• Intermediate skills with SQL, Python and building data pipelines
• Used Git, ideally some CI/CD and Docker 
• Some cloud platform / Cloud DWH experience (BigQuery is preferred, but Redshift or Snowflake is OK)
• Any experience (self-learning or professional) using LLMs such as OpenAI, Claude, etc, is advantageous 

Location: Hybrid work 1 Day in Sydney CBD, 4 days work-from-home

Pay Range: $58 - $70 per hour including superannuation

Potential for longer/permanent work: Yes - depending on performance and skills both are possible
