We are hiring a Data Scientist for a small, high-impact data science team at an Australian investment firm. You will do a range of analytics including building machine learning models and deploying these to production. The focus for you is helping investment managers and traders become data driven and take advantage of data science and analytics - though for clarity, this is not an algorithmic trading or HFT firm. This would be an ideal role if you are passionate / interested in financial markets and value a highly impactful role, working in a small team of around 4-5 data scientists
Experience & Skills Required: - 2-4 years of commercial experience in a professional data science role
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Studies or similar (with top grades)
- Advanced SQL
- Advanced R skills are preferred, but we would also consider strong Python and Pandas skills with a willingness to learn and use R and applicable libraries like R Tidyverse
- Strong communication skills, including working with investment and financial SMEs

please note, this role is based 5 days per week in the Sydney office.
